Full Description
July 2014. Lothingland, Lowestoft and North Suffolk Coast and Heaths National Mapping Programme.
Cropmarks of possible Iron Age-Roman ditches are visible on aerial photographs (S1-S2), on land to the south of Hulver Road, Mutford.
They are fragmentary and visible against a background of geological marks, and it is possible that they relate to post medieval drainage ditches and even former footpaths. However, it is also possible that they represent part of former field boundaries or enclosures, and that the archaeological features extend further than those that are mapped. An Iron Age terret has been recovered in the area (SHER MUD 012).
E. Ford (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 30th July 2014.
