Full Description
July 2014. Lothingland, Lowestoft and North Suffolk Coast and Heaths National Mapping Programme.
The cropmarks of undated, but potentially prehistoric ditches, assumed to have formed a continuous boundary are visible on aerial photographs (S1). These would appear to underlie and cut across the recorded extent of the Mutford Big Wood ancient woodland (MUD 009). However it worth noting that the eastern ditch is marked on Ordnance Survey First Edition map (S2), so this relationship may be false or feasibly it may indicate a considerable longevity to the boundary.
S. Horlock (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 2nd July 2014.
