Full Description
January 2014. Lothingland, Lowestoft and North Suffolk Coast and Heaths National Mapping Programme.
The indistinct cropmarks of a possible enclosure or broad boundary ditch of unknown, but possible medieval to post medieval date, may be visible on aerial photographs (S1). The site is centred on TM 4861 9942. The Hodkinson map of 1783 (S2) indicates that this feature was located on the edge of the common and may represent a stock enclosure or encroachment onto the common or alternatively a medieval common-edge settlement. Although it must be noted that the cropmarks are of uncertain archaeological origin and could feasibly relate natural features.
S. Horlock (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 2nd January 2014.
