Monument record SOL 055 - Probable post medieval plantation bank/boundary in grounds of Herringfleet Hall

Please read our .

Summary

Part of a probable post medieval plantation bank/boundary is visible as an earthwork – since levelled – on aerial photographs. It lies within the grounds of Herringfleet Hall and partially correlates with a modern plantation. It is almost certainly a feature relating to the park-like landscape around the hall, but the possibility that it is an earlier feature, potentially related to the extensive cropmarks that surround it (SHER LUD 016), cannot be ruled out entirely.
