Full Description
2015: An archaeological evaluation revealed a ring ditch (see BUC 027) that was previously identified in cropmarks and recorded as an archaeological anomaly in the previous geophysical survey. It is likely part of a prehistoric burial mound. This feature was 3m wide and over 1.2m in depth. No cremations, graves or other deposits were found associated with this feature. A series of undated ditches were identified across the rest of the site. These features were on similar alignments to the current field boundaries and are likely to be medieval or later. The adjacent cropmarks (see BUC 070) are probably be part of the same field system as these boundaries (S2).
