Full Description
February 2016. Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Beauty National Mapping Programme.
The site of a Second World War searchlight and/or gun battery is visible on aerial photographs (S1-S2). The surviving pillbox component has previously been recorded as ADT 007. The site consists of two circular emplacements, potentially for either searchlights or guns, connected by a track. A group of military huts and operational buildings were located along the western edge of the site – the area of these structures has been defined by an extent-of-area polygon. The internal area of the site and an area of heath to the north showed evidence of military training activity, in the form of practice trenches and weapons pits.
