Full Description
Two trenches were excavated prior to the construction of a temporary car park area at the southern end of Crowe Street, within the bounds of Abbot's Hall house. A single Roman ditch was encountered, with evidence suggestive of (potential high status) occupation close by (S1).
2011: Monitoring of service runs and ancilliary works around Abbot's Hall, adjacent to the Museum of East Anglian Life were carreid out durign 2011 as improvement works were undertaken to increase access and visitor experience. A large quantitty of unstratified material was identified in the soil of the service runs, from medieval to modern date, and two wall footigns were seen, believed to relate to a previous incarnation of Abbot's Hall (the present building constructed in 1709) (S2).
