Full Description
1999: Excavating either side of building 937, in advance of redevelopment, uncovered Roman & Saxon features. Mostly ditches with some pits. The site lies on the east side of the Norwich Road, immediately north of the cemetery excavation, ERL 104, and the ditches may relate to those found on the north side of the cemetery. The topography was undulating with natural sand-filled hollows evident across the site. It is hoped to tie the results of this work in with the evidence found in ERL 104 excavation for Anglo-Saxon activity beyond the limits of the cemetery (S1).
Also prehistoric worked flints.
