Full Description

Metal detector finds: silver coin (sceat or proto-penny), series (TIC), standard reverse. Small solder mark below bust indicates use as pendant. Assumed to be from Kingdom of Kent, one of earliest issues, of silver coinage in Anglo- Saxon England, 690- 700 AD. Silver cut half-penny of Athelred II, 978-1016 (S1).
