Full Description
1992: A small linear feature containing hand made pottery sherds found in evaluation trenching of areas on Chalkstone Way and Millfields Way. The pottery (at least two vessels represented) is sand-tempered with vegetable temper also present and could be either IA or ESax. The finds area is only 25 m. square at most; a couple of possible postholes were also identified. (S1).
2002: An excavation was carrried out in advance of housing development on a site south of Millfields Way. The site lies on a SW facing slope, the N side of the Stour Brook. Only seven possible features were observed and excavated. The monitoring of the road revealed a further two possible features. Only one single feature, pit 0101 contained any datable finds and was of a size and shape to suggest it was man-made, of IA date (S2).
